Fine weather
Denman's parks and playgrounds are shady and safe, the river flats are full of kangaroos at dusk, and Lake Glenbawn is a brilliant full day with lawns, playgrounds and safe swimming areas.
Wet weather
Muswellbrook, 25 minutes away, has the cinema, the aquatic centre, the regional gallery and indoor shopping. Closer to home, the Family Room and Three-Bedroom Apartment at the motor inn have space to spread out, a smart TV and a kitchenette for a proper movie afternoon.
Short walks that work with kids
The Goulburn River's sandy bed is the best short walk in the district for children — flat, shallow, endlessly interesting and impossible to get lost on.
