Newcastle & the Coast
If you want salt water, Newcastle is about two hours from Denman down the Hunter Expressway. It's also the closest major airport, which makes it the usual arrival point for guests flying in.
What to do there
Ocean baths, surf beaches, the Bathers Way coastal walk, Fort Scratchley, a strong cafe and restaurant scene and a working harbour to watch. Port Stephens and its dolphins are another 45 minutes north.
Doing it in a day
Leave Denman by 8am and you'll have a comfortable six or seven hours at the coast. It's a long day but an easy drive, mostly dual carriageway once you're past Muswellbrook.

Newcastle Airport is around two hours from Denman. Let reception know your arrival time and we'll make sure check-in works around it — after-hours arrivals are always welcome.
