Scenic Drives from Denman
Denman sits at the crossroads of some genuinely good driving country. Roads here are quiet, well surfaced on the main routes, and every direction gives you something different.
West — the Bylong Valley Way
Sandy Hollow to Bylong and on towards Rylstone. Sandstone cliffs, sweeping bends and almost no traffic. Half a day to Bylong and back, a full day to Mudgee.
South — Denman to Broke
Forty-five minutes of vineyards, river flats and the Yellow Rock escarpment, finishing at boutique cellar doors. The prettiest short drive in the valley.
North — Denman to Scone via Gundy
Green hills, creek crossings and horse studs behind white fences. Loop back down the New England Highway through Aberdeen and Muswellbrook.
East — the Golden Highway
The quick run to Muswellbrook for supplies, with long views over the valley floor and the vineyards on the way out of town.
- Dawn and dusk mean kangaroos on every one of these roads — slow down.
- Fuel is cheapest and most reliable in Denman and Muswellbrook.
- Unsealed side roads get slippery after rain; stick to the sealed loops if it's wet.
Loops west to Sandy Hollow, south to Broke, north to Scone and east to Muswellbrook.
Base yourself in the village — our rooms are about 45 min to full day from here, with free parking at your door.
